After having a heart attack, Inzamam-ul-Haq, the former Pakistan captain and finest batsman of all time, is in the hospital. He had a successful angioplasty procedure.
For the last three days, Inzamam had been complaining about chest pain. Initial testing found nothing life-threatening, but tests conducted on Monday revealed that he had a heart attack and was sent to the hospital for surgery. His representative stated that he was in good health, but physicians advised that he be monitored for a while.
Inzamam, 51, is Pakistan’s greatest ODI run scorer with 11701 runs in 375 games, and third in Tests with 8829 runs in 119 games. He was also one of the country’s most successful captains.
In 2007, he retired from international competition. He has served in a variety of capacities, including as a batting consultant and then chief selector from 2016 to 2019. He has also served as Afghanistan’s head coach.
