Former Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul will take over as head coach of the Galle Gladiators in the upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) season, the franchise confirmed to ProPakistani on Tuesday.
Azam Khan, the manager of the Galle Gladiators, told the publication that Gul had been appointed as interim head coach of the franchise because Moin is unavailable due to his son’s marriage.
“Because the dates of his [Moin Khan’s] son’s wedding clash with those of the second edition of LPL, he will not be available for this season.”
Umar Gul, the bowling coach of the Quetta Gladiators, GG’s parent franchise, will take his place in this year’s edition, which will be held from December 5 to December 23, he confirmed. Moin, who has been with the team since the league’s inception, is still their first-choice head coach for both franchises, according to Azam, and will continue in that capacity during the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Due to the series against Australia, PSL 7 is expected to take place in January-February next year, rather than its usual February-March slot.
